The Hope Journal
A 31-Day Scripture Study
The promises that anchor the soul
“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” — Romans 15:13, KJV
Before You Begin
Set Aside Unhurried Time
Wake up early, or find another time in the day when you will not be rushed. When my children were small, my quiet time was during their nap—if I did not fall asleep first! Make your time with the Lord special. Gather your Bible, journal, and this plan. Before you read, pause and ask the Lord to use his Word in your heart.
Read, Pray, and Personalize
Read each Scripture passage and turn it into a prayer. Write your prayer in your journal. As you write, add your own words of praise, worship, desire, and thanksgiving. You may also find it helpful to read the passage aloud while standing or kneeling.
Wait on God
After reading Scripture and writing in your journal, wait quietly before God. Record anything from his Word that he brings to mind. You are deeply loved; respond to that love by giving him your attention and resting in his promises. This is part of fighting the good fight of faith.
