Matt Black, biblical counselor

Matt Black, ACBC

Biblical counselor, teacher, writer, and former pastor.

Matt loves helping people grow and change into Christ's image through biblical counseling, preaching, writing, and evangelism.

Matt Black is originally from Oak Forest, Illinois. He studied theology and Spanish as an undergraduate and later completed his M.A. in Biblical Counseling at Faith Bible Seminary in Lafayette, Indiana.

He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Biblical Counseling at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. Matt has been certified with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors since 2015.

Matt has served for many years in pastoral ministry. He was also a foreign missionary in the Madrid and Basque regions of Spain, where he assisted in establishing a church and a Christian camp. Those years of shepherding, cross-cultural ministry, preaching, and evangelism continue to shape the way he listens to and cares for people.

He approaches counseling with confidence in the sufficiency of Scripture and with compassion for people walking through suffering, conflict, and patterns of sin. His aim is more than solving an immediate problem: he wants people to know Christ more deeply and grow steadily into his image.

Matt has been married to his loving wife, Jill, for more than twenty-five years. They have five children.
