Purpose and Practice

Husband: Open in prayer Husband asks the questions. Be sure to listen attentively to the answers. Try to see where your wife is coming from. Don’t offer solutions. Just sympathize with her. Husband, ask the following questions to your wife.

  1. What is your greatest struggle right now in our marriage?
  2. How can I show that I am truly repentant about my sin that is meaningful to you?
  3. How have you seen me change recently?
  4. How would you like to see me change in the future?
  5. How can I be an encouragement to you?
  6. How can I be an encouragement to the kids?
  7. What is your idea of an ideal husband, and how can I be that man?
  8. Is there anything else you would like to talk about?

Wife, ask the following questions to your husband.

  1. What can I do to encourage you in your walk with God?
  2. What can I do to encourage you in our marriage?

Husband and wife, close in prayer together. Spend some time praying together out loud.

Listen to Your Wife’s Heart

In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered. Husband, ask your wife these questions and sincerely listen to her answers. Be ready to agree with her and honor her, and try to see things the way she sees them. Where there is sin in your life, agree with God that it is wrong
